In May 2008 Verena Doolabh from Australia trekked to Everest Base Camp as part of a sponsored trek to raise money and awareness for “Spinal Cure” in her home country. When she told STS CEO Kesang Sherpa what the charity she was supporting was Kesang realized that Verena might benefit from paying a visit to the Spinal Injury Rehabilitation Center in Kathmandu. As a direct result of that visit Verena returned to her country and spoke to the charity she was supporting. They agreed that 10% of the money raised should be donated to the SIRC in Nepal in support of their current projects. This amounted to a $1200 (Aus) donation.
