On Tuesday 20th May Kesang Sherpa (CEO of Sherpa Trekking Service - STS) took 4 Australian clients on a site visit with one of the companies Charity Partners. The Charity is called Siddhi Memorial Hospital and is based in Bhaktapur. During the tour the Doctor in charge introduced the group to a Husband and Wife who were currently patients in the hospitals Siddhi Shaligram Briddha Ashram (old people’s home). The husband (Ganesh Bahadur Prajapati) had come in for treatment of a stroke 3 years ago and whilst his wife (Bishnu Kesari Prajapati) was caring for him in hospital she too had, had a stroke 1 year ago. The couple who are locally from the area around Bhaktapur are too poor to pay for the second operation for the wife and were desperately looking to find the 80,000nrs needed. As a direct result of this visit, STS through Miss Kesang Sherpa donated 21,000nrs towards the cost of the upcoming heart surgery which will take place in the next 6 months.
