Overview: MANASLU (8,156 m/ 26,758 ft) is the name of the 8th highest mountain in the world, a spectacular snow peak in the Himalayas of Nepal.
Some of the villages like Singla in the very picturesque but impoverished Manaslu Region of Nepal need basic support for its school. The organization “Friends of Singla” (FOS) is active in improving the quality of life and opportunities for the residents of Singla village, which comprises about 200 households. There are over 190 children but classrooms are unorganized and children of mixed ages have to study together, and there are no facilities such as libraries or reading rooms. US$ 250 per person from this trek goes toward building up a small bi-lingual library (Nepalese and English) for the children of Singla Village. In addition, books and creative materials such as coloring crayons, games etc. and if possible a computer, jackets and other warm clothing and shoes for children and adults are also accepted as charity donations.
